WordPress 2.1, code named Ella in honor of Jazz musician Ella Fitzgerald was released on January 22, 2007. We installed in on the BobStovall.com, AREIP.org and OrangeCat.info blogs on January 24.
The upgrade went flawlessly and everything is humming along just fine. All of the plug-ins that I use are working as well. I will be sure to publish a list of the plug-ins I use on the OrangeCat.info so you will know what I use and what they are used for.
The YourKentuckyHome Blog is still chugging along on WordPress 2.0.7 as the I am not sure that the Landzilla theme used on that site is compatible with WP Version 2.1. A visit to the developer’s blog was unfruitful as the blog is entirely in German, a language with which I am not familiar.
If you download WordPress to install on your web server, you can choose to download the latest version 2.1 or the earlier 2.0.7. If I was starting out with a new installation, I’d choose the newer version. You can get it here. If you use the WordPress installation from the Signature Server Control Panel, it will load the older version until the new files are propagated. It can then be updated by installing the new version over the older version.
As always, if you have any questions about any of this stuff, call Bob at (859) 854-3243, or use the form on the Contact page.
