The 1st Annual Kentucky BBQ Festival will be held in Danville, Kentucky on November 4-5, 2011 and will feature some top names in BBQ cooking for attendees. This is an event you won’t want to miss if you are a BBQ devotee.
The Kentucky BBQ Festival is also an event that needs an effective website to reach the hoards of BBQ lovers throughout the region and across the country. As one of the organizers of the event, I immediately thought WordPress was the perfect solution.
BBQ is a passion for it’s cooks and it’s followers and we needed a website that reflected that and one that could be built on in the future. WordPress can handle a large number of pages, an infinite number of posts, and more than one of us can post or update items, photos and video on the site. And since I have extensive experience setting up WordPress sites, it was a “no-brainer.”
The site at KYBBQFestival.com is built on WordPress 3.2.1 (updates are done as fast as they are available), using a customized TwentyEleven child theme. We are also using the Akismet, All-in-One SEO, Google XML Sitemap, Login Lockdown, Facebook “Like” Button, Feedburner, Twitter AutoPost and a few other essential plugins. The WP Touch plugin is used to provide a mobile interface.
